From a young age, I have always loved the imagination and figuring out how to create something beautiful whether it was legos or art or music. What I’ve found is – it is the idea, the why and the how, that I love exploring in other people. And it’s the expression where the conceptual meets practical that I gravitate toward – to help others have a better grasp of who they are meant to be.
Money is not your identity, it is simply a tool. Much like a hammer, a writing utensil, or a camera, you can do things with it.
To me, money management and debt freedom is a mindset of becoming something. It is about having the freedom to create. Creating something beautiful requires having the freedom to focus and the freedom to be fully present and spontaneous.
To be clear, I am not spontaneous. I am risk averse. But my wife loves me on vacation because I do things I never do at home, like say yes to things without assessing the budget.
Over the years, I’ve found that being creative and sharing an expression, ultimately requires time. In life, there is so much chaos to wade through and figure out how to manage in order to create and be truly spontaneous.
For example, being spontaneous should not result in being strapped with debt. It should allow you to be free.
To me, personal money management is a very practical way to look at what is hindering you from greatness. It is a reflection of the structure and rhythm of life that you follow and how you create order around your priorities. It also shows what is in your heart, what you believe in and what you care about.
Consider those that have success, truly have success, not those who are stressed out all the time and can’t get their life together. People like the Warren Buffett’s and the Michael Hyatt’s, life seems to come easy for them. If you looked at their life you would say, “How in the world do you do it all?” They seem to have limitless amounts of time and energy and money.
These things are all intertwined. Money management, like your priorities, is both a science and an art. Those who do it well, seem to have an edge on those who don’t.
Good money management is something that is not for just the rich, for the one who has more money. It is for all of us, regardless of how much money you have or what you consume. So, with this podcast, I hope to make stories accessible to the average person and the young person to inspire more of becoming who you are meant to be.
